How to become the participant of the European games-2019 in Minsk? What is the price of sports success? About this and many other things journalists of regional media asked the karateka Anton ISAKOV, the champion of Games-2015 in Baku in women's wrestling Vasilisa MARZALYUK, members of the sport aerobics national team Darya HORONEKO and Anastasia BUDEYKO.
- What can forum fans expect from you?
Anastasia and Darya: – We would like to charge everyone with our energy. It is important not just to go to the stage and show the program. The main thing is to convey the mood of the audience, so that they also want to dance.
Vasilisa: – Our sport is difficult to understand for people who are far from wrestling. I do not expect that it will become suddenly popular in June. But we will try to show all beauty of wrestling. Come, we will be very glad. Sometimes it is a shame that we are deprived of attention.
Anton: – We have a similar situation, as in the wrestling. Even some of my friends are sure that karatekas just wave their legs. Actually it is very emotional and spectacular type of martial arts. There are many spectacular moves and strikes. I think the Belarusian fan will like it.
– Does the presence of relatives and friends in the stands help or hinder concentration?
Anton: – As a child I was very bothered: I literally felt all the experiences of my mother. Now my parents have mastered the Internet and are watching my performances through broadcasts. But they already bought tickets for the European games. So I have to accept it (laughs).
Vasilisa: – I try to communicate less with my relatives on competition days. I have enough that I often need to calm down the coach (smiles).
Anastasia: – It’s better not to touch me before the performance. But on the stage, when I see smiles and hear shouts and ovations, it is very inspiring.
Darya: – We have a loud sport: hall support is an additional incentive to win.
– And can you be seen among the audience of the European games?
Anton: – Vasilisa and I train in «Stayki», so we often intersect. It would be interesting to see her in action (smiles). I also want to get on tournaments on sambo and judo.
Vasilisa: – If I can, I’ll go to various competitions. I liked the idea about sport aerobics.
Darya: – I didn't think about that: we are currently immersed in training. Probably, I will have a look at acrobats and gymnasts. Apparently, women's wrestling competitions will also have to be seen (laughs).
Anastasia: – We act closer to the closing of the forum, so we do not want to be distracted. You need to invest emotionally and physically in your sport.
- What do you do when you have free time?
Anton: - I have a strict schedule: getting up, breakfast, first training. Then - lunch, nap, second training. I return to the hostel in the evening, have dinner and go to bed or prepare for exams. So in my free time I sleep off. Sometimes with a friend we jog in the park.
Vasilisa: - I am not a fan of sports like Anton. I do not want my life to revolve only around it. Therefore, I try to relax: I attend exhibitions, scoop information from the Internet or books. I like surrealism and Salvador Dali. I also used to paint. I think about taking dance lessons. I have two sewing machines. Recently, my friend's daughter had a theme party for her birthday, and I made her a dinosaur costume.
Daria: - Now is not time to rest. But sometimes, to distract for half a day, I go to the cinema or to the theater.
Anastasia: - From Monday to Friday we train three times a day, on Saturday - one. I usually come home late at night. There is only Sunday, when you can go to the bath, take a walk with friends or spend time with your family.
– What did you give up for success?
Anton: - I love what I do. Of course, there are downsides. In childhood, for example, everyone played soccer, and you with a bag went to training. But I don’t even have time to complain that I chose sports instead of parties and clubs and could not try something: all forces are directed at Tokyo 2020.
Vasilisa: - There are things that have to be endured. For example, a shoulder hurts, but you fight in the World Cup final. For someone, it is a difficulty, but athletes are already accustomed to it and take it for granted. When you are in the sport of higher achievements, you think for the future: have I done everything to fulfill my dream? So that you will not regret that you missed the training session or did not go to bed at the right time.
Daria: - Probably the biggest sacrifice for the sake of sport is time. And you have to eat less sugar (smiles).
Anastasia: - The hardest thing for me is to follow the diet, to limit myself in something. Although now there is such a pace of training that sometimes I do not even have time to eat.
- Has it ever happened that you wanted to quit?
Anton: - Motivation falls after a defeat or unsuccessful performance. Then I come to the gym and train more. Too much energy was spent — mine, my coach, my relatives, comrades — to take it and just leave.
Vasilisa: - I was always interested in life outside sport. After all athletes are aloof. And there are so many interesting things in the world. But every time I wanted to leave the wrestling mat, coaches, colleagues, friends said: «You are not going to the training today? Oh, you're a weakling». In general, they played «you wouldn’t dare» (laughs).
Daria: - Of course, sometimes the hands fall. But you know that if you give up now, then it will be much more painful. It makes you grit your teeth and go forward.
Anastasia: - There are times when you just want to lie on the couch. But I struggle with myself.
- What do European games mean to you?
Anton: - This is a double responsibility, because we perform at home. I do not want to fail Belarusians and relatives. I am very seriously preparing for the competition. I think everything that was planned with the coach will work.
Vasilisa: - I am proud that our country hosts such a large-scale forum. It has already influenced the development of the sports movement in Belarus - this is a big plus. The gold of the European Games in Azerbaijan is the most valuable medal under my belt. I will do my best to win the tournament again. Our team is focused only on winning. Another result will not satisfy us.
Anastasia: - Unfortunately, most of the people here and abroad have not heard about sports aerobics. Maybe before the European Games, someone will read about it and will become interested. Or go to jumpers on trampolines, see us and stay in the arena: we stand in parallel.
Daria: - I hope that native walls and the support of friends, relatives, compatriots will help us.
- What bar do you want to conquer?
Anton: - In 2016, our sport was included in the program of the Olympiad, so my dream is to be selected on it. For this you need to be in the top four in the world rankings. In addition, weight categories combined and competition increased twice. At the European Games, karatekas will fight for a license in 5 scales, and only one will receive it. It’s possible to get into the number of participants of the Olympics in the tournament in Paris next year. Olympic quota - three athletes out of fifty. Only one representative from Belarus in the category will perform at the competitions, and in our country there are three candidates.
Daria: - We aim to represent Belarus at the European Games with dignity and take a place on the podium.
Anastasia: - I hope we will declare ourselves so brightly that they will start writing about us everywhere. And this will mark the beginning of the promotion of sport aerobics in Belarus.
