Traditionally, the organizer of a delicious and bright two-day event is JSC "Molochny Mir". Today, cheese producers and milk processors from different parts of the country have gathered here. They discussed the state and prospects for the development of cheese production at an international seminar attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Alexey Bogdanov.
– It is significant that the current cheese festival, which brought together the elite of the Belarusian cheese – making industry in Grodno, is held on the Day of National Unity, – Alexey Igorevich pointed out. - It is symbolic that specialists have gathered here who not only unite the people around a unique product-cheese, but also promote products to the markets of other states. Today, Belarus occupies the fourth place in the world ranking in terms of cheese exports. Last year, we exported 275 thousand tons of cheeses and cottage cheese.
Alongside the company is holding a traditional republican competition on the quality of cheeses. Seventy-three samples of cheeses from twenty-three producers were put up for professional tasting. JSC "Molochny Mir" presented several types of products to the jury. Among them is the cheese "Grodno Vezha", which has no analogues. The product matures for six months, has an incredible texture and literally melts in the mouth. Another novelty of this year – Krones cheese with chanterelles and fried onions is waiting for the tasters ' assessments. The Presidential cheese of the Parmesan variety also participates in the competition. Its highlight is in the unique aroma and versatility of tastes. By the way, this novelty was presented to the President of our country Alexander Lukashenko during his visit to the Grodno enterprise in the spring of this year.
The competitive samples are evaluated by a professional tasting commission, which consists of eleven people. These are experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry, representatives of meat and dairy holdings and associations. The commission is headed by Maria Klimova, Deputy Head of the Main Department of the Processing Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus.
The contestants ' samples are coded before the tasting, the jury members do not know which manufacturer's product they are tasting. Professionals evaluate the taste, aroma, softness and flexibility of the dough, the number and shape of the eyes, aftertaste, etc.
The winners will be determined in nine categories. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday at Sovetskaya Square, where the cheese festival will continue. Guests of the holiday "Rodny Krai-cheese paradise" will have a folk tasting, everyone will have the opportunity to vote for the cheese they like. The organizers promise a rich and interesting program - with contests, master classes, entertaining quests and prizes.
