Belarus celebrates library Day on September 15. Someone will say that the holiday is not relevant, because libraries are outdated, and books in covers are long gone, giving way to electronic versions. But he will be wrong. Libraries are still popular, and for many people they are the only way to read classics or something modern in hardcover. Not everyone likes e-books: there is no special smell and rustle of pages. Now working as the Shrine of the book, we went to the library family reading in Skidel.
– We have a very diverse readership. Both pensioners and children like to read. The repository contains universal, school, and fiction literature. People read well for modern times – said Elena Bakumenko, librarian of the Skidel.
The library currently has 1,600 readers. In 2020, it was visited more than 20 thousand times. The coronavirus pandemic has played an interesting role in this. Left without mass entertainment, people returned to the libraries. After all, the right book can dispel any boredom. The staff will help you choose a genre or author: fiction and classical literature are popular among young people, older people choose detective stories and women's novels, and children often ask for horror and encyclopedias. New arrivals Wilmont, Dashkova and Kolycheva are always looking forward to. Dan Brown and Stephen King stand in line to read. Modern technologies will help you not to get confused in all the variety of books and remember the wishes of readers.
– We were transferred from paper forms to electronic ones. Immediately, of course, it became inconvenient to work on paper for so many years. Now I've clicked a couple of buttons and it's done. They bring you a book, open the program, dial the main number of the book, as always, enter it into the computer, and you completely knock out the necessary information – the librarian of the Skidel library Margarita Kulinok demonstrated the new program.
Modern technologies are also used here to attract readers. Accounts of the family reading library are actively developing in social networks: Odnoklassniki and Instagram. The page tells about the life of the institution and writes reviews of books. The modern library has long ceased to be a place where you just take literature at home. The temple of the book often acts as the cultural center of a city or village.
